Bloomberg Terminals - CRE
Why don't commercial real estate professionals use Bloomberg data? Seems like the services they provide could help us get the answers we need on a variety of levels. I'm not on the buy side so I'm not sure what's going on over there in terms of resources but I'm sitting here at the HQ of one of the big 3 brokerage shops and I face seemingly simple tasks that can take weeks to find the answer to. Meanwhile, I just asked a friend for some information I had no idea how to obtain and received it 30 seconds later.
We have a whole trading floor of people sitting in front of Bloomberg terminal
If you work in capital market, you will use Bloomberg terminal
It’s very expensive, there is no need for a brokerage firm to spend the money on Bloomberg terminal
What kind of data does bloomberg provide for RE? Aside from information on REITs
Wouldn't it make sense for a large shop to have 1?
Lots of loan tape data on terminal from CLO/CMO/CMBS
You can just use Trepp if you are looking for tape data, a lot cheaper and actually better data too
Credit Ratings for tenants are also very useful. At the brokerage shop I worked at we had one that everyone shared.
def cool to have a terminal but i dont see much value to justify the price in re with other alternatives available
