I'm bilingual in mandarin chinese and conversational in cantonese. I'm currently an undergraduate student who is very interested in working at a VC that has offices based in Beijing/Shanghai/Hong Kong area.
I'm a sophomore from a semi-target and did an IB intern (a mid-sized bank in Beijing). What should I do now?
Any thoughts would help. Thank you.

I was just wondering those who follow it more frequently than I do can perhaps give me a small outline of what's been going on in the VC industry in China, potential return rates, market overview etc.
I would really appreciate this guys!
a friend of mine wrote a good report on that topic, you can find it here: http://www.glorad.org/hsg/dbic/reports/ -> Venture Capital in China
Very interesting and comprehensive read... thanks.
VCs in China? (Originally Posted: 04/16/2009)
Hi, I am wondering if you guys know of good VC funds in china, either local or US based but have a strong presence/investment in china?
Thanks.
PRC has large equity stakes in Chinese firms of all sizes. I would say that they have the strongest investment presence in China. Check their website - http://english.gov.cn/
I dunno about "good" though...
IDG Ventures has a China office.

Shenzhen Capital Group: http://www.szvc.com.cn/en2009/about.asp - largest investment team in China, and the most IPOs of any VC in China (34).
Dragon Ventures Management: http://www.dragonvm.com/company.html
AsiaVest Partners: http://www.asiavest.com/html/1024/1024asiavest.htm
Softbank China Venture Capital (sbcvc.com) is currently one of the strongest in China, has a long track record of success since 2000.
Hi, i'm currently working at a Chinese VC firm, and used to work for an FoF firm, both based in Beijing. So I guess I know pretty well about the PE and VC landscape here. Just off the top of my head, the top tier VC firms would be: GGV, Morningside, Qiming, IDG, SAIF, Sequoia, Legend Capital, and DCM. Just google their names and go to their website to find out more about them. Of cause, they differ a lot in terms of strategy and culture. If interested, you can also ask me for any anecdotes as I looked at and/or invested in most of them while working at the FoF firm.
