I recently been given an internship offer with the A&D group of Brookfield office properties in NYC.
I am curious if anybody knows what is the ballpark number for a 1st year analyst salary. I was told by an MBA at my school that the pay was around 85K, which sounds a bit too high to me.
Can anybody give me some insight about this?
Unlike banking, this stuff really isn't set in stone at all. If you're an intern, ask one of the younger guys to give you a ballpark figure. It could definitely be 85K. It could also be less. Just ask
Thanks, CRE. I am a little hesitant to ask since I haven't accepted the offer yet. I have a couple of other offers and this one is the only one in NYC, but it is also the lowest pay for an internship. I am trying not to make a decision on pay, but I would be lying to myself if I said its not a factor at all. (I am concern this pay translates into analyst pay).
Do you think it is okay if I reach out to the analyst I interviewed with and ask them?
I wouldn't necessarily go to the analyst you interviewed with (side note: damn, analysts leading interviews!?)
Glassdoor (take it with a grain of salt, but it's usually not horribly wrong) lists analyst salaries at $87k-$94k (damn! that's awesome) and associate salaries at $95k-$172k. That $85k could be about right then. More than I made, but NYC is NYC.
Typically a lot of REITs hire people after 2 years of banking. So the $85k might be after two years in RE-IBD.
There was a third round interview with the SVPs, but the on location interview was lead by several analyst. Yeah I saw the Glassdoor numbers, but still find it hard to believe, especially with the intern pay so low. It's possible that number could be for former IBDs, but all the analyst that interviewed me were from undergrad.
Brookfield is bigtime, man. They're no joke at all. Intern pay doesn't mean much either. Aim for that full time offer!

Intern pay is very low, but have friends who work there full time and it seems they pay pretty competitively. Hit me up if you want info on what it's like there.
Agree that Brookfield is bigtime. NYC location makes a huge difference as well.
