Came to WSO for career advice and direction
How's it going guys,
I am currently a junior in college at a non target university, majoring in Finance with a concentration in Asset Management. I initially created my WSO account with the intention of broadening my general literacy and knowledge, but after poking around the site a bit I've seen some similar threads and thought I could get some valuable input from other members here. I came into college independently with absolutely no idea what I wanted to do professionally, and Finance ended up being an appealing option to freshman me because I wanted to make money where I work. Obviously, being a student with no clear passion meant that I had a blast for my first 2 years, and my grades suffered a lot. I have grown a lot over the past few years, and have taken a genuine interest in my studies in a sort of epiphanic "holy shit this is my life" moment. It's to a point that I'm worried I've shot myself in the foot and won't be able to break into a desirable private role, let alone get into an MBA program down the line because of my awful grades. I currently have a 2.6 GPA, but I've taken steps to develop my professional network and I'm currently interning as a Portfolio and Stock Analyst at an RIA Firm. So with that being said, what should my next steps be? Am I SOL? 2.6 looks bad and I really think it'll prevent me from doing anything worthwhile with my degree.
