So here is my simple, yet difficult question.
What is the job market like for Senior IB or even PE professionals, who DO NOT posses "Local Experience". The reason I am asking is, I have heard pretty rough stories about individuals who have migrated to Canada holding tons of experience, hitting dead ends because they lack the Canadian experience.
I for example, have 11 years of Buy side (Generalist) experience but mostly in EU and US markets with a handful of advisory work in Japan and Hong Kong. What, in your view, are the problems/hiccups I would have to tackle if I was looking for a VP or Director level role in a BB, MM or Boutique firm in Toronto.
I was reading a survey on the Ontario Govt. Human development website that states that most immigrants with exceptional knowledge (PhD's) do not even get an interview simply because their name does not sound "English" enough. Is this also true for financial sector in Canada, has anyone felt or seen such travesty around them. I am aware of the wide spread discrimination when it comes to gender but this never even crossed my mind.
