Capital Markets Analyst or Associate?
I'm a recent MBA graduate working as a wealth management associate. I'm considering moving into a capital markets group: Corporate Banking, Syndications or Debt Capital Markets. However, I am unsure if I can move into an associate position without any direct experience. I had a 3.8 GPA in my MBA and took all finance courses: Statement Analysis, Risk and Derivatives, Corporate Finance. I also TA'd an undergraduate finance course and played university sports. I've got about 1.5 years work experience in bank brokerages doing business development and financial planning for advisory groups.
I'm thinking that depending on the position/hiring manager, I could move into an associate role in Corporate Banking, Syndications and analyst role in Debt Capital Markets.
Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated.
