I was in credit before I joined my firm. It took me 12 months to get a good grasp on how to price NPLs. The paths to recovery involve various different scenarios
thank you for your reply! What kind of credit role were you in? Primary markets & origination or sales, trading or research?
About pricing NPLs - yeah that makes complete sense. From what I have heard, pricing NPLs is all about which path an investor takes & whether that is successful or not. If it is, investor is in the money big time. If not, they could lose all their capital, or most of it anyway.
