CFA Registration Inquiry

Hello everyone,

As the title suggests I have inquiry regarding the CFA Level 1 exam registration process and specifics around the “requirements” for enrolling for it.

To give you some background information, I’m doing BA HONS in the UK (Scotland) and my course is composed of Bachelor’s Degree (3 years) + Honours year = total of 4 years. I’m currently in my last semester of the Bachelor’s Degree and I still have one more year.

Furthermore, I would like to enrol for the CFA Level 1 Exam this summer (2018). The problem is that the CFA Institute requirements for enrolling into the Level 1 are: “Undergraduate education: A bachelor's (or equivalent) degree or be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program". I’ve contacted my university and they told me that I’m not classified as “final year student”. I’ve also addressed the question to the CFA Institute and they’ve told me: “The degree requirement is self-reporting. Students applying for entrance to the CFA Program must be able to confirm at the time of registration that they are in their final undergraduate year of a bachelor's or equivalent degree program. “Taking a further step forward, I tried to register and the “self-reporting” consisted only a tick in a box…

I’ve read a couple of previous posts on WSO on this topic in which was said that people in my situation have managed to enrol for the exam but I’m still concerned.

Also, as far as I’ve read, the CFA Institute itself, is stricter about giving the CFA Charter (prove of relevant work experience required) than the registration process for Level 1. Am I right?

Tell me your opinion on whether I’d be able to register and sit the exam.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Thank you for your reply!

I’m sweating because I’m not classified as “final year student” and CFA requires that. I just want to know how strict the CFA is to the entry requirements and will they check if I’m classified as “final year student”.
