Chances at I-Banking
What are the chances of getting into I Banking out of a school like Haverford? Likely math major econ minor or double major. Also would get engineering masters from penn w/ 1 additional yr, how would that help and what concentration would be most beneficial? Please critique plan/ give advice. Other likely option is Tufts, probly quantitative econ major. Thanks
Never heard of it
Network, Network, Network. Both schools are complete non targets, so you'll have to be an absolute stud to even land an interview. Not to mention the strong bias the interviewer will have coming from a school he/she has never heard of.
Ok thanks. Would the engineering masters from penn help substantially? And I was under the impression Tufts was at least a semi target, no?
Why the fuck would you get an engineering masters if you want to do ibanking? And in what way could it possibly help?
Both tufts and harveford are excellent schools though. Even if they have absolutely no recruiting (which I would find hard to believe, but I really don't know), you should have no problem getting into ibanking if you make it your goal from day 1.
I havent looked at the specific concentrations they offer, there is often financial engineering as an option at schools. That would clearly help, not sure if they offer it. You could just answer the question instead of trying to make me sound stupid.
But anyway, what would you consider the better option then? Haverford scares me because of its size and porbably limited alumni network. Who would you say has more alums on the street?
Probably tufts. Some dude named jamie, (last name is like damond or diamond or something) went to tufts. I know he was a big shot at citi for a while, can't remember what bank he's at now. I'm sure there are others.
And no, financial engineering will not help. It's pretty much the complete opposite of ibanking. Are you sure you even know what investment banking is?
