Citi VP vs GS Analyst offer

I received offers from Citi and GS recently and was wondering which one is a better opportunity.
For Citi, it’s a VP position for risk management, managing all of the macroeconomic variables for the stress tests.
For GS, it’s a senior analyst position in their securities division, managing P&L and doing competitor analysis. (Basically corp finance)
As far as comp goes, Citi is paying x1.5.
I have friends who are in financial services that they’d rather take the Goldman position just for the brand name and experience.
Is GS name worth that much? And which position will have better opportunity for the next level / exit?

You know what's more prestigious than an offer from Goldman? An offer that pays 1.5x as much.

In seriousness, I can't really offer very specific info on the opportunities you've listed. But I think your friends are applying too much weight to the Goldman brand. Don't get me wrong, GS has a culture of excellence. But I don't think the name does nearly as much for you on a resume when you're not in a front office role. Citi is also an outstanding name for your resume, so there's no way I'd take that kind of a pay cut to work for GS.

Thanks for your insight. I’ve actually only had tech FP&A experience and am coming from a top tech company, so banking industry is new to me. I wasn’t sure if one bank offers better career development/experience over the other, even for a MO/BO role.

I'm in college, but if both roles are back office, why in the world would you take a lower paying job? Especially since both of these banks are BBs. It's not like Citi is some dog shit bank that no one has ever heard of. Again, I'm in the college so what do I know
