Cold e-mailing for internships in London
Hey folks,
Been cold e-mailing boutique IB and PE firms for internships in London. Haven't received any interviews/positive responses after 50+ e-mails. If anyone has any experience successfully doing so I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
I cold emailed some MM firms and boutiques a couple of years ago and ended up getting an internship. Do you have any particular questions?
So I've been cold e-mailing quite a bit, and most firms say they either aren't taking interns or it is too early for them to tell. In my e-mails, I ask for internships in August 2021 since I have something secured for the first part of the summer, but it isn't very relevant to IB. Am I getting something wrong with the timing/kind of firms I'm targeting (tiny boutique)? How'd you go about the process?
In August most small firms are just closing - people (seniors take holidays then so don't really need interns). If you can try for September if your uni is re-starting around August. Also doing 2 over one summer is a bit much, much better to just do one thing not related to IB and be able to speak about it and where you added value.
That's interesting I didn't know many firms close in August. Anyway, this other one is Big 4 consulting and will last six weeks max. My university will mostly open in October, so will have quite some time to get more relevant experience while applying to IBD summer internships. Any particular firms you know that are open to taking interns? Been looking at AskIvy's list and Sainoo, but not much luck so far.
