Comparable finance IB pay at entry level and NOT IB
Fisher Investments is a fund that manages institutional and ultra high net worth private wealth. They are primarily located on the West Coast and recently built a new state of the art compound outside of Portland, Oregon. They have multiple levels of the company you can work in from client management, analysis, sales etc. The Investment Counselor group: This position is like point of contact for institutional and private clients who are invested with the firm - high pressure given if you screw up in this role you can lose business for the firm - think of client management. Series 65 required. Not great if you want to do analysis but great if you want to get paid a lot and you want to gear your career to capital raising/client management, etc.
I know the base structure in this role is 65-75K base (on 40 hrs a week - typically work 50-65 hrs a week), you get paid overtime for anything over 40hrs/wk - average out the salary over 52 weeks and find the hourly - now do time and a half for your hourly pay over 40. WIth overtime this position makes closer to 100K base followed by a bonus potential in your first year of 40K. 120-140K typical first year pay. Great benefits included. Keep in mind this is in Portland - cheap city to live in. Sounds great compared to working 70-100 hrs a week in IB with no job security.
I can see this being a great step before business school. Was curious to know what others think.
