Comp/Title for Post FLP
Long time lurker/first time poster - curious what the average compensation and title are when rolling off a Finance Leadership Program? I will be rolling off a fairly new program in the next year with 3 years/5 rotations worth of experience and a Top 20 MBA. Not sure if I should be expecting a Senior Analyst role or not, or what the comp should really look like. All input greatly appreciated!
Hey wildcat_13, what a lonely thread. I'm here since nobody responded ...so maybe one of these discussions will help:
You're welcome.
The fact that you have a top 20 MBA makes you different than most FLDPs.. so it's hard to compare apples to apples. How many years of experience will you have by the end of the program? I finished a 3 year program where my comp started at high 50s and grew to high 60s over the program. At the end I got the SFA promo with comp right at 80k after my (measly) bonus. A few months later (still 3yrs exp) I took a SFA role in a different industry for a salary of high 80s, mid 90s after bonus. If you'll have more than 3 years exp after the end of the program, I'd be looking for a supervisor/manager kind of role.. it would feel to me like a waste of a top 20 MBA to not be ahead of the average guy without it.
The program starts right after college, so it will be 3 years experience. We had similar starting comp numbers and progression to what you showed, which makes me think it's not unreasonable for us to expect 80-85 with a bump to SFA.
Both comp and title will be largely dependent on the company/industry, and experience both pre and post MBA. At my old company post-MBA FLDP went into either Manager, Sr. Manager or Director roles, but from a shorter program (~2 yrs).
This will vary widely at each company.
The 3 year post-MBA FLDP (when it existed) at my company either went into a Manager role or were exited from the company
I would consider how you are differentiated from other employees hired directly out of school. Sounds like the FLDP is paid better and has access to a Top 20 MBA which are the only differences. Seeing multiple rotations is good but detracts from being a virtuoso in a given area. Conversely, if your eval process yields + results repeatedly, your comp should be reflective. Are you Top 3 or 5 in your program? If so comp should be reflective. Assuming you are in the upper echelon of performers with differentiated experience and this Top 20 MBA, 90-115K is reasonable depending on market. I would also consider if you are tech savvy in a traditionalist or modernized business. The more traditional it is the higher your potential.
How did you graduate from a Top 20 MBA with a starting salary of $80k or am I reading this wrong?
THe starting salary at all top MBAs is at least $100k, closer to 120k
