Cornell MPS vs. Vanderbilt MSF
Got accepted to both and trying to figure out which one is the better path to land an IB job at BB/EB after the program. I know Vandy has a good placement rate, but think Cornell has more prestige?

anyone?

Why do you think vandy is the better option?
what are your stats? i also applied
also I would go cornell if you want bb/eb 100%
vanderbilt will place urm/women into bb tier jobs, if you arent one of those I wouldnt go.
3.9 GPA from undergrad, Econ & Finance Major. No GMAT/GRE and other test scores because I went to high school overseas. Few finance internships, such as brokerage, credit analyst and regional IB boutique.
I think both can get you BB/EB, given that you have already networked and have a strong SA IB gig. if not, I think it’s a uphill battle from either school
Yes, I have a pretty strong network I think with people at most major banks. Also just did a spring internship at a regional boutique. I just got into IB last November, so I was too late for FT recruiting and now with Covid was not able to find a spot for after graduation. Do you think that either program will put me in a good spot for 2021 recruiting?
would prolly go with Vandy as well. it’s got a pretty strong track record and there’s a good amount of people placing into BB with one going to BAML and two going to UBS this year. and, these are all people with no ib experience before hand. I’ve also noticed a lot of kids going into vandy seem to have an ib gig lined up already
I think no one knows the real answer because most in this forum haven’t made such a decision. The trade off you are thinking is right and I would like to hear your final decision.
You are right. I am also consulting some current analysts in my network. I will post here once I made a decision.
.
AEM with the behavioral finance track.
Cornell is Cornell, but the MPS program looks like a money grab. If you want to do IB, Vandy is clearly the better choice. DM some students from each program on LinkedIn
Yes, the MPS has mostly international students and not really a path to IB, but as you said it is Cornell. I already have a boutique internship on my resume, so my goal is EB/BB. I feel like Vandy is really only MM or boutique after the program.
With the Cornell network, I am hoping to get the chance for EB/BB. Compared to most other students in the program I am a citizen with previous experience.
there’s more kids with BB/EB offers from vandy msf than there are from Cornell’s MPS. also, what’s wrong with a MM?
Nothing wrong with MM, but my goal is EB/BB if possible. However, if I get an MM offer I will take it and run.
Hey OP! I'm also in the same boat as you right now. Any chance you could PM me about what you ended up deciding and why?
Hey OP! I'm in the same spot rn and I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a PM and share what you ended up doing and why!
Yo let me know where you ended up going man? also interested in Vandy MSF
Ended up going to Vandy. Applied for Cornell in April, and they got back to me in July, telling me I got denied. By that time I had already moved down to Nashville for Vandy lol. If you have any questions about the program, I can PM you. So far it is pretty good but there are definitely some things to be aware of.
Ya pm me dude. I'm a science major (former pre-med) at a semi-target, I'm assuming most of the kids in the MSF have a non-target background. Also interested in EB/BB and would go to Vandy only if there's a shot at that.
Hey, would you mind explaining some of the things to be aware of about the program? It would be greatly appreciated.
Could you also PM me? Know this is a year late but I am strongly considering the MSF from Vandy.
