College Advice (NYU Stern vs. Northwestern)

Hi everyone,

Want some last-minute advice before I commit. Was accepted into NYU Stern (Finance) & Northwestern (Econ). Interested in high finance but not totally set down the Investment Banking/Private Equity pathway.

Both schools are roughly the same price, with no aid. Student from NJ Area (can take a train to NYC).

If you have any last-minute advice, please let me know!

Since you're not totally set on finance, would go Northwestern. A lot better overall school

Stern is more of a "target" but it's also hyper-competitive. Recruiting out of NU is honestly great cuz people actually help each other and NU's recent placements are a testament to that. NU won't hold you back from anywhere

Northwestern is the better school, hotter babes, more fun, and 100% better for consulting but for IB it's a wash. Personally would pick NU but it wouldn't be a mistake to pick Stern for location reasons / close to home.

Go to Northwestern. You don't need to be an econ major to recruit for finance from NU. Major in something fun/interesting like History, Philosophy, Middle Eastern Studies, foreign language, etc. They have a cool internship for credit program where you can work an internship in downtown chicago and get credit for it, really helps pad the resume before recruiting starts to have a MM PE internship the fall of your sophomore year. Google NUIBC and look at recent placements if you are doubting that NU places well.
