Corp Fin Interview without a Bachelors

I'm sure this topic has been beat to death around here but it came up at lunch the other day. My friend sat in on a few interviews for an analyst position and he said most of them were younger guys from top schools with an internship or two but one guy stuck out. He was around 27, looked professional and seasoned, had been in sales since he was 18, went from personal banker to bank manager (midsized branch but large bank) to Assistant VP of something but he did not have a degree. Turns out he went to a mid-tier school for a few years and just never finished because of his work schedule. I've met a few guys who are very successful without finishing college but they generally go through years of sales or entrepreneurship. Corp fin is not my industry but does someone like that stand a chance?
