Corporate Banking V. Capital Markets V. Syndicate
Have three offers for SA positions:
1. Corporate Banking at a BB in NYC
2. Syndicate Group in Charlotte
3. Capital Markets position in Stamford
Looking to do Coverage IBD mostly, and will most likely try for FT BB Lateral/Internal Lateral to IBD. Given these options, which SA position would help with FT/Internal Lateral to IBD the best? How likely is Internal Lateraling vs. FT? Any advice would be appreciated!
Cap Markets is going to be the most relevant experience and (RBC?) is a good name.
I would not bet on trying to lateral from Corp banking to IBD within the BB.
“I would not bet on trying to lateral from Corp banking to IBD within the BB." Why not? I’ve seen it happen. The only reason I don’t see it more is that few people want to leave CB in my group.
Both Wells and RBC are pretty good names. Congrats! Personally, I would go for Wells. But BB CB lateral to IBD is very rare these days. In economic downturns, it would be relatively easy.
I'd take Corp banking.. Similar pay to IBD but lower hours. Also easiest to lateral into IBD
