Definitive Finance Vest Rankings

I work in a small office and 2 of our 5 summer interns contacted people in the office about whether it was appropriate to wear a fleece vest to the office and if so, what do we recommend. Leaving aside the ridiculousness of their inquiry, give me your power rankings on vests!

If you see clients in person, I would not recommend it.

That being said, depending on the office the HVAC can be pretty bad, especially in full-floor open offices in larger buildings. In my technical role, I've seen everybody from our kids, who just worked their way off the sales desk after a few years, to the PM for a few billion dollar fund wear a vest when not scheduled to meet anyone. This is regardless of the temperature outside, as the temperature inside can be dozens of degrees different.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Ed Chambers:
I feel like if I am meeting someone on the sell side and they don't come wearing a vest, I'd be wondering if he was Finance Material.

I think we may be talking across each other here, Ed. It sounds like you mean 'vest' as in part of a three piece suit. We're buy-side here on the portfolio team, and I was speaking of vest as in fleece or a bubble north face/vineyard vines style vest.
