Do corp finance roles get sign-on bonuses?
Hi WSO,
Would anyone know how likely corporate finance roles receive sign-on bonuses with their offers? I have not seen a offer personally with a sign-on bonus but my friend, who job hops around has been saying he has received sign on bonuses between 15k-20k each time. Has anyone else seen sign-on bonuses for corporate finance? If so, is that something you have to negotiate?
Thank you in advance for your insights.
Hey Tbailey67,
I can't speak for everyone, but coming out of my MBA program last year my corporate finance sign on bonus was $25k, and I've heard similar numbers from friends taking F500 corp fin roles post-MBA.
Hi jto777,
I appreciate the insight! I have also heard of sign on bonus for post-MBA but I should have clarified that I meant offers without a MBA.
Thanks again!
I'll echo this. Graduating from an MBA program this Spring and received a signing bonus north of $30k from my F200 FLDP.
What's overall comp like? What industry?
It varies wildly by firm. I would go in expecting nothing, but prepared to negotiate for something.
Hi Sil,
That makes sense. I appreciate your comment!
Thank you,
Not at my company, SF Fintech, came in at manager level. I do think at higher levels there are though.
Hi JShloe,
Thank you for you insights! I was trying to see from Manager level and below. I agree, I would think above that level there are higher chance for a sign on bonus.
I got 4k for my summer intern stint at a bank in FP&A
Just wanna make sure I read that right, you got a 4K signing bonus for your FP&A SA??

yes, but it is a more competitive program within fp&a
All three of my roles so far in Corp Fin have had sign on bonuses post undergrad, I would not say that is the norm though. The first role after undergrad and grad school it is probably expected, after that it is likely that any "sign on bonus" is just another name used for relocation.
In my experience, if you are expected to relocate from your current city some kind of relocation expense + sign on bonus is more likely. I would assume that would not be the case if you're taking another role within your current city.
My F50 FLDP that recruits out of undergrad gives $5k pre-tax signing bonuses. It's not much but it's something. We also get a $4k post-tax relocation bonus every 6 months if we need to move cities for the rotation.
I received a $5k signing bonus and $7k relocation bonus for a F100 FDP in a low cost city. I believe for the MBA version of the program, they receive 20k sign on.
