Does getting rejected as a sophomore hurt you as a junior?
Hi,
Say I apply to all the BB sophomore programs or just SA spots that take sophomores and completely make a fool of myself. Will this hurt my chances for recruiting as a junior?

I now work at a smaller firm. Got rejected for a summer internship and then applied for FT and got it. I know you are asking about BB, so I hope this can help.
Not necessarily. Are you at a slight disadvantage? Yes. The sophomores will have a chance at getting return offers but that said, there’s plenty of new junior hires
I mean beyond just losing out at the sophomore internship change, will they look at your resume see your prior app and hold that against you?
In my view, the logical thing for them to do would be to consider you an entirely new applicant. They don't have time (until the later stages of recruiting maybe) to go through everyone's past applications/documents
If anything it will help since you will already have networked with the firm. You've also showed continued interest
From my experience no. In fact, as long as you take the feedback you get from the sophomore recruiting cycle and can show you’ve taken concrete steps to improve on those points during junior cycle, it can actually help you build a really compelling experience. I went through the sophomore recruiting process for a BB last fall, made it all the way to a superday but didn’t receive an offer. I went through the 2020 SA process with the same group this spring and received an offer. Everyone I spoke with said that demonstrating that i had taken feedback from the fall and worked towards improving my resume, background, etc played a role in receiving an offer second time around.
