Early Career Switch
Hey everyone. I have my degree in accounting from MTSU and did my MBA at MTSU to satisfy the credit hour requirements needed to sit for the CPA exam because it was a 1-year program and I knocked out my CPA exams while doing my MBA. Now I’ve realized my interest is in either IB or PE, but I need a prestigious badge next to my name for it to be possible for me. My plan is to work in audit at a big-4 firm for 2-3 years then go back to school, actually study for the GMAT and get into Vanderbilt for grad school. My question is, would it be more beneficial to get another MBA or should I go the MSF route? Almost everyone at the local IB or PE firms went to Vandy. Alternatively, would a CFA designation help me compensate for the lack of prestige associated with my MBA?
I think most schools do not allow you to complete a second MBA with them. So you may want to keep your MBA status quiet when applying. You'll have to navigate those ethical issues yourself.
