Evercore Strategic Defense & Shareholder Advisory

Hi! Anyone have any info on this group? I know this is a "recent group" and there is not much out there. How is the comp, exits, prestige? Any information related to shareholder activism is appreciated.

Don’t have anything to add re: comp/exits. But is a group that was started by Bill Anderson when he came over from GS to Evercore. Had the opportunity to work with their team on a few different occasions as an intern, and they were all super bright and great with clients. They also work with a lot of industry’s which is something that could be positive if you’re industry agnostic/undecided there.

It's a strong team that works with lots of large cap clients.

However, it's important to understand that the nature of the work is much less analytical / technical and a lot more qualitative. Because of this, exit ops are slim. Most of the analysts stay on as senior analysts or associates and then jump ship to corp dev or the like, but can't recall any leaving for the buyside.

The only activism analysts who've successfully secured buyside jobs (to my knowledge) have internally transferred to the M&A group and had to restart there as Analyst 1s. I wouldn't bank on this as your out, it's not a common occurrence and most people would want to do it if given the choice.
