Bump
know BAML has a major office not sure about anything else
It's not major. It's just a portion of LevFin.
There are some solid MM funds in Charlotte:
Pamlico
Ridgemont
Frontier Growth
Carousel
Falfurrias
Summit Park
Kian
Couple of BDCs in the area - Capitala, Triangle Capital Corp (RDU) Couple of Mezz - Five Points Capital (W-S), Plexus
The people at Ridgemont are astonishingly good looking.
Girls, guys or both?
*No judgment here
Are you blind?
Can provide more color on the firms mentioned above.
1) Ridgemont - One of the largest PE shops in the SE ( I believe second to a firm based out of ATL).
2) Falfurrias - Founded/Started by Hugh McColl. For those unaware of the name he basically formed Bank of America back in the day through significant M&A Transactions.
3) Pamlico - Spin off from Wachovia I believe after merger with Wells Fargo/when Wachovia was run into the ground.
4) 5 Points Capital - Associated with BB&T however was just bought out by another PE firm based out of Dallas. Mentioned in post but this is not in Charlotte, but Winston-Salem. About hour and a half from Charlotte.
Most of these shops at associate level will typically recruit from local shops like Wells. Harris WIlliams is a breeding ground for Pamlico.
Additionally Churchill Asset Management - Leg of Nuveen/TIAA that provides financing for PE shops. Few ex Regions Guys.
Unfortunately not too many Hedge Funds that I am aware of. If there are just smaller family office shops.
tobin and co is the ONLY exit opp worth talking about.
There are a number of good MM PE shops in Charlotte. Some do traditional buyout investing while others, like Frontier Capital, focus on growth (they just changed their name to Frontier Growth). Most of the associates come from smaller / regional banks (BlackArch in Charlotte pumps out analysts to Frontier) but I imagine someone coming from Wells or BoA would have a great shot
How does BAML LevFin Charlotte place vs LevFin NYC?
Obviously NYC LF places better overall. CLT LF is still a very solid shop though
Is it possible for Charlotte bankers to recruit on cycle for PE in NYC? Or are their options limited to just Charlotte.
