Exits from no-name ER boutique

Hi. Received an offer for an off-cycle internship at a small ER boutique in London, a two man team excluding administrative/support staff i.e. PA, etc. Can't tell how the analyst is perceived (happy to PM the name to anyone that could look him up). The company is only a few years old. I'd be a generalist so pretty much looking into every sector.

What I would like to know is how this position would place me in terms of interviewing for full time ER at buyside funds, specifically AM and HFs. My undergrad and postgrad were at targets. My studies and most of my work experience were in scientific fields, but I also completed internships on the buyside (private markets so not HF/AM. Apologies for the vagueness, would like to keep anonymity).

Would be great if anyone could also comment on how I could network my way into HFs here in London for full time opportunities. I imagine that the funds buying the research are also people that I should network with?

Thanks guys!

Well I was going through interviews for a few other off-cycles and FT opportunities across MM PE (one infra and the others general market focus). However thanks to COVID, positions were either placed on hold or cancelled. Things are beginning to pickup again, but there's no telling how long it will take me to land another offer.

The sombre tone of your reply seems to imply that I should try finding something better? I was also recruiting at my uni for a part time position in their Technology Transfer Office (also on hold). Would this be any better?
