F500 RE Dev Analyst Exit Opps?
Hello,
Just went from IB to RE Dev at a F500 as an analyst.
What exit opps can I expect and what timeline? I am new, and dont know too much about the industry. I would like to eventually set my sights on REPE. Thoughts?
I have literally never heard anyone describe their development company as f500. Perhaps you could be more specific regarding the type of work you are doing.
I work as a real estate development analyst at a f500 like walmart, best buy, etc.
Just looking to see what there is out there. Maybe there isnt anything, IDK.
Thanks for replying.
This sounds like a corporate real estate role and frankly will probably not transalte well to an investor role. If you're working on new store development you're probably going to be looking at expected sales vs lease and capital costs. You'll probably also be assisting the team as they go through permitting for new builds if they do ground leases. This would position you decently well to move to a developer with a retail slant.
You will be able to exit to shopping center development analyst role, this knowledge and skill set is in demand there. Think Regency Centers or Kite Realty.
What's your day-to-day like? Like what skill set do you have?
Not sure yet, I havent even started yet.
I hope this doesnt anger some of the responders. I was just putting fealers out to see what is out there.
Lol ok well if I don't know what your skillset is / what you've been up to then idk what exit opps you have.
One of my NAIOP peers made a transition from doing development for a F500 to a national developer. The key is the skillset and network that you develop along the way.
