Finance newbie here! What kind of comp am I looking at?
This is my first post on this site, so hello!
I am in talks with a firm about an associate level position and am wondering what kind of comp I should expect. I currently work in industry (engineering background, will soon have MBA) and am well-compensated. I am not sure what category of AM the firm falls under, so I'll just describe it. Little over $5B AUM, long-only, long-term sector specific, 5 investment professionals (all partners) and ~15 total employees.
My first thought is that that is a lot of money per investment staff, so bonus should be good. But I am just starting to learn about the business and have no idea what would be considered normal comp, for base pay or bonus. What do you guys think?
Side question: I have already spoken with one of the partners and will be speaking to a PM next week. Any suggestions for reading/research I could do to prepare? I feel a little out of my depth in the finance world, even though I am confident I have the skills they are looking for (technical background).
