First Year Analyst Shoes

Hey guys,

What are some shoes that are appropriate for first-year analysts (sales and trading)?

I have a pair of walnut 5th avenue Allen Edmonds. Love them.

Looking for an appropriate pair of black loafers now. Are loafers ok for analysts?

Guess Ferregamo and Gucci are out the window

Black or brown should do the trick.

Loafers / sleds of any kind really work. I would stay away from the traditional gucci ones as a first year though. Cole haan is great

If you're wearing a suit, Allen Edmonds Park Avenue Cap Toes in black and/or brown are all you'll need. If you're in a dress shirt and pants, loafers should be fine. In the latter case, I would go with either Cole Haan or Allen Edmonds again. Same colors, don't deviate from black/brown. There's no reason to. And for God's sake, match your leathers and metals.

If you have the patience, wait until AE goes on an online sale and you can often get 5th Aves under 200. And none of the bullshit Factory 2nds. A black and brown pair of AE 5th Aves for under 450 seems like a hell of a starter pack!

Just happened a few weeks ago so probably not for a few months. What I would recommend in addition to periodically checking (sale is usually a week long) is to utilize a service like ShopTagr. A site like this allows you to get notified about any price drops for a certain product. Sign up for their emails to also be notified of the sale. They usually have this type of sale during July 4th weekend but often during other periods during the year too.
