Freshman summer

Hi people!

I am currently a freshman. What type of things should I do for the summer? Internships (in my country freshman interns are very rare), learning programming language, preparing for ACCA (kind of CPA), starting blog or anything else? I want to get maximum out of this summer.

Looking forward to your advice/suggestions. What does usually people do in their freshman summer?

P.s.= I am studying 4 years degree. Not 3.

Thank You!

Well, PWM looks like to be under the investment banks/or other financial institutions' asset management/wealth management arm. Also some invididuals may also have their own wealth's management team. Saddest part is that I doubt that there are places like that in my country (if there were they would require at least bachelor's even master's in finance) But nevertheless, thank You for the answer.

Do a blue collar job. 1. They're fun  2. You'll probably not be chained to your desk / screen for the last time in your work life 3. Interesting people 4. Gives you something to talk about in recruiting. I definitely don't want to talk about your wild and wacky Summer learning programming during an interview.

I had an interview for a PE firm doing bizdev but ended up not getting the offer and had nothing to do that summer. Following summer as a sophomore I got a boutique IB internship, then junior summer I had a BB internship. Freshman summer doesn't really matter that much. I regret not doing a summer study abroad then. If you can find something, great, if not, it doesn't really matter. I even know a few people who didn't have a sophomore internship and got an EB internship their junior summer. To be fair though, recruiting was early enough that he wouldn't have started at that point.

PWM is a waste of time and not very relevant to IB. Get a search fund internship instead. Way more relevant - like a mini PE firm experience and very easy to obtain one of these internships.
