From IB Canada to IB US

Hi guys - wanted to seek your opinions what are the chances for moving from IB in Canada to IB in US given the below hypothetical profile and outcomes:

Profile: Post-MBA Associate in a big bank in Canada and have done 2 years in M&A.

What do the chances look like for:
1. Relocation/Internal lateral from Canada to US within the same bank
2. Lateral to a different bank, same product group (M&A)
3. Lateral to a different bank, different/change product group (M&A to restructuring for example)
4. I would assume this is close to impossible, but just wanted to put it in here in case someone has a perspective on it/has seen it happens - moving to a large buy side in US

I'm not familiar with the market and just wanted to see what are the possibilities. If any of these questions seem outlandish please help correct/inform me.

Many thanks guys!

1-3 are doable.

1 - assuming you work at RBC, you can move to the U.S. under the L1 visa. has happened before, do a Linkedin search.
2 - doable at the associate level as A2As are rarer down South than in Canada. Firm are willing to sponsor strong associates.
3 - Same as two, but you will have learn the new product group
