From Sales & Trading to private equity

Hi guys. I'm going to be a sales & trading intern at a top BB in Hong Kong this summer.

I wanted to know how a sales & trading (probably on the sales side but unsure) summer analyst could spin his experience and try to go into private equity (I know its an unusual exit op for S&T). Also would be awesome to hear from anyone who made the switch from sales & trading to private equity. Thanks.

Obvious question- why in the hell did you go into S&T if you 'already know' that you want to do PE?

But to your question- you have 2 options:

1.) S&T -> Research/Desk Analyst -> Banking -> PE 2.) S&T -> BSchool -> Banking -> PE

Whatever you do, make sure you pick a fundamental product duringyour desk placement. Stay away from rates, derivatives, structured products, etc. ...

"Sounds to me like you guys a couple of bookies."
