Fuck yall's hardo culture

Going on a small rant here. I just want to provide another point of view on the attitude that a lot of people have (or pretend to have) on this site about working in IB. All these ppl on this website that talk about how in their free time they go through legal m&a documents, or can do an LBO while they brush their teeth, or some other bs like that in my eyes are just trying to convince themselves they aren't just another soulless analyst that turns comments from their md about punctuation mistakes and formatting.

I am one of those analysts as well currently, and I don't mind doing it because like everyone on this site I know the upside of doing it long-term, however I don't fantasize about being some sort of dealcloser/rainmaker/rockstar or whatever the wso hardos want to call it.

New joiners - should you become excel/ppt wizards? Yes. Should you try to learn something every time you have an interaction with a senior? Absolutely. But when the work is done, go home, chill with your friends, take care of your chicken. The hardo shit you read on wso will not get you a higher bonus or help you become a top bucket analyst. Making your superiors' lives easier is really the only thing that counts as an analyst: they will be impressed if you turn in a deliverable without mistakes, not if you know by heart all the debt covenants of some deal.

Rant over, would love to hear opinions on this!
