Most HFs rarely hire out of undergrad. Some like citadel, P72, etc. have structured programs that you can look at, most of your 1-5b funds probably won't have a seat for someone out of undergrad. Unless you have some sort of relevant experience, even thinking to recruit for HF out of undergrad is very hard. There's usually no structured timeline for HF hiring unlike PE, most hire on a ad hoc basis. I had some relevant exp and it was still very hard just because of the number of seats available to people like us, granted I'm not going to P72, Citadel, etc. I would imagine those funds would be relatively easier to land a seat at.

I would try to get some relevant position if you can (ib/pe). P72 is offering externships that might lead to FT interviews at P72, which you can apply for. Just have something relevant on your resume. You could learn how to make pitches, model, etc. Networking would be very helpful too - maybe you can land a fall/school year internship at some fund, crush it and then possibly convert to a FT role. You can learn stuff on your own and make pitches, etc. but a lot of them care about some past experience because they usually don't have the time/resources to teach someone everything unless you're at a fund that has a structured program. Funds prefer someone who has been vetted.

Lmk if you have any questions. I had a very hard time time recruiting so I can probably tell you what to do or what to avoid and how to make your time more efficient. Happy to help in any way I can.
