GE FMP with CPA?
I'm an incoming GE FMP (Financial Management Program) and was just wondering if getting a CPA will be worth it for me. I don't really know what I want to do long-term, but I know I don't plan to ever work in public accounting. I'm thinking after the FMP program to enter into another corporate finance role or try to get into consulting. Do you guys think I should continue to pursue a CPA or hold off on it? Any advice is much appreciated.
I'm a CPA (and MBA). My two cents: a CPA is career insurance. There is always a need for them and it is well respected. I was never in public accounting but do find the information useful because it teaches an additional way to look at financial results. Do you have the time to study? Plan on a year, including a review course.
I did do accounting, and I am eligible for the CPA in terms of credit hours and maybe in terms of hours under a CPA. How would you compare the CPA and CMA? CMA to me seems like it is more relevant for corporate analysis because of how it helps you evaluate costs.
Hi have not been on here forever. To answer your question, I would not do the CMA. For a lot of companies you will have to explain what it is.
