Georgetown (MSB) vs. Wesleyan vs. Rice vs. Vanderbilt vs. Wisconsin-Madison
Hey guys I am trying to decide where I want to go to school next year. I understand that I should pick a school based off how I would fit but I want to get some objective assessments of how the following schools are viewed by BB/MBB firms. Also, as I am not entirely decided on what career field I want to pursue, if any of the schools have specific niches and specialties within business that you know of, could you please include those as well? I just want some info about the reputations of these schools and your recommendations. Any information you have is greatly appreciated!
Georgetown (McDonough School of Business)
Wesleyan
Wisconsin-Madison
Rice
Vanderbilt
Georgetown (McDonough School of Business) if you want NYC
Out of these schools GTown is probably the best bet for BB/MBB in the northeast. Vanderbilt is also okay.
Rice is very good for Texas MBB / BB and also some into NYC.
GT or Vanderbilt. GT does very well in IB but poorly in MBB. Vandy does place well in both IB/MBB.
Georgetown or Vandy is the way to go. Not only for IB but also the lifestyle. Personally, I think Georgetown offers more options because of its location. If you late decide that IB is not for you, you can try government or law in DC. But be warn, it is very difficult to switch schools at Georgetown (MSB to SFS or GC).
Why does GTown place poorly into MBB? Where do they fall in terms of target schools for consulting. What kind of OCR do they have from consulting firms? I've heard that the Hilltop Consultants do incredibly well with MBB at least.
At GTown the SFS kids will place a couple of students at MBB
The rest of the school is frankly not on par with SFS
Vandy is probably the best balance of career opportunities, good school, and social scene.
So does McDonough really only do well in IB?
And how difficult would be it be to transfer from MSB to SFS (in terms of % accepted)? Would that be a recommended change for consulting recruiting? Also, would it be easier to get into their incredibly selective clubs as an SFS or MSB student?
