Getting a job after former job didn't work out?

Hi guys:

I recently resigned from my former job as the position/team didn't work out. It was my second job, and I didn't do my due diligence properly.

I have been working in AM for 3 years, first 2 years as an analyst in macro, the last one as an analyst looking at corporate securities. I was wondering what I can do right now to increase my odds of job hunting success? I'd like to still work in company securities research, but work in a value-oriented team; however, since I was only in my 2nd job for about 1 year, it seems to me it is too short. I know my resume is a bit botched right now, and I'd appreciate any advice on how I can make it better and get the best result I can from this job hunting process.

Thank you!
