Getting the Full-time Offer

To get the full-time offer, you have to not f*ck it up.

  1. You won't be modeling big public cross-border M&A deals, with some hair, in your summer internship. Focus on doing the little things / tasks you are given accurately.

  2. Have a good attitude. People can tell when you're annoyed or think you're better than the task at hand. Don't do that.

  3. Come in even 10 minutes early, and you'll quickly get a reputation for being diligent.

  4. Don't be the intern that always is making social laps. Socialization is good, but in moderation.

  5. During outings, don't be the drunkest intern.

  6. Take your own initiative to learn. Dig through old models & projects on the drive. Use Macabacus, etc.

  7. Learn your way around PPT & Excel. Learn basics of FactSet / CapIQ.

  8. Be efficient. Use BamSec for filings & LogoIntern for logos (there will be more of these than you can imagine).

  9. Always print out your work and check the printed version before turning it in. This will uncover more silly errors than you can imagine.

  10. Don't try to impress people. Do a good job and your work will speak for itself.
