Governors Lane?
Any color on these guys? Isaac Corre is an ex Eton Park partner and it seems like their strategy is event driven with a bias toward complexity but otherwise unconstrained (plays across cap structure, rx, sovereign, spinoffs, etc). Also apparently not as merger arb focused than some event funds. Any details would be appreciated.
went through the entire process for these guys. great pedigree - Isaac used to be the head of event-driven for Eton Park. 3 partners under him - one guy from och ziff, 2 from Eton Park - one named Fenil Ghodadra or something like that. then a bunch of investment analysts (about 7-9 or so I think) and a bunch are ex-Eton park and from BX/PJT RX. so they’re really picky about who they take in. used to be $2bn+ fund when I interviewed with them it looks like it’s down a little to $1.7bn now. they have a guy Justin who heads up their merger arb but by and large they try to focus on spec arb, other event driven equity players other than just merger arb although Isaac cut his teeth doing merger arb originally. at the time they did almost no credit stuff even though the fund is event-driven equities/distressed credit. my guess is now they’ll be putting some more money to work on the distressed side of things.
hope this helps.
Would you mind sharing your background and how you got the opportunity? Were you in IB and put in contact through a HH or at a similar fund? If IB, were you at PJT yourself or another RX group?
Search One runs their process. I was uncommon for them. was in a top group at GS that had no RX exposure. came in with a pitch deck I had of a trade they happened to have as one of their top positions. answered a lot of their technicals and theoretical questions correctly. that got me into the case etc.

Isaac seemed like good guy from meeting him a few years ago. But noticed couple of his tenured guys just left. Has fund had performance issues or is there benign explanation?
