GPA as a Math Major

Hey everybody!

Just had a question regarding GPA. I am going to be applying everywhere next fall, but my aim is to get a position in a technology group in IB or a quant trader role at a hedge fund. My GPA is a 3.64 as a math major and CS Minor from a top public school. I was just wondering if this was sufficient as an initial screen at most of the top firms?

There are a million variables..... im sure you know that.

school, past experience, your personality, etc. many variables and no one on this site will be able to give you the peace of mind that you will make the initial cut because none of us have a crystal ball.

3.5 out of 4.0 was the minimum GPA i saw when I was going through the application process for banks...

for an IB or Quant Trader position I know for a near fact that the GPA hurdle will be much higher than a 3.5.... my gut tells me 3.7+

the only way you'll know if you make the initial screen is by applying..... and waiting for results. its out of your hands so I dont know why you're stressing out.

edit: thanks for the money shit OP for expressing my opinion

I had well under 3.5 as a math major and got a FO role at a bank. My experience was that most banks wouldn't even look at me, especially BB's. However, prop trading firms I had a lot of success with and a total of three super days with prop firms. In the end I wasn't smart enough to make it through any of those super days, but got lucky enough that the one single bank willing to give me a look hired me.
