Great Resource for Tech M&A
There have been some recent requests on these forums for good resources for recent deals.
I found this today, the website is a little clunky/buggy but the information presented is excellent and very clearly presented. It has all the significant recent deals tech deals, along with a write up giving an overview of the companies invovled, transaction rationale, deal size and multiples where applicable.

Certainly could be a great resource for upcoming interviews
+1 This is really helpful. Saves a ton of time from having to punch in creative keywords just to get the right info.
cool site. looks like it only has the major deals but that should be good enough for most students' purposes. we used paidcontent.org at my internship at a tech m&a shop to keep up to date on all the deals in relevant spaces. http://paidcontent.org/topic/ma-venture-capital then CTRL F "acquir" and "buy" and "sell" and you can also run searches for specific subsectors or companies. definitely more tedious and not as straight forward as the other one but very comprehensive for certain tech subsectors.
Thanks for both those links, would SB but ran dry the other day .... very helpful.
we also use paidcontent.org and crunchbase.com
interesting how in tech there are these great free resources but other sectors you have to pay a f*cking fortune to access quality newsletters / databases
Comes from the open source, goodnatured vibe of the codie/developer world. You share because that collaboration might help the world advance.
Thanks.
How come some of the deals mention the EV multiples, while others use transaction value?
just glanced at a couple transactions, but my guess is that the "transaction value" is used when the total purchase price includes earnouts, which technically shouldn't be included in the current enterprise value. See the Shopzilla/ Symphony deal.
I'm guessing this firm does a lot of fairness opinions.
Guess this is noob question, but what are earnouts? Or is this not important to know for entry level IB jobs?
Thanks in advance.
