Headhunter pushing to start ASAP
Hi all -- I'm about to start at a new firm, and the headhunter who introduced me seems to want me to start ASAP rather than take a few weeks off. The company itself doesn't seem to care.
The headhunter has acted a bit like a used-car salesman through this whole process, so I assume that he's pushing me because it will mean money in his pocket sooner. Is that right? Or could there be other factors at play?
They usually only get paid after you've worked in the job for a certain period of time (which they agree with the employer before recruiting).
Sounds like he needs to pay some bills soon lol. Just follow what the people actually employing you are saying.
That sounds good. This is also a guy who really wanted me to take the first offer the firm made me rather than come back and say "if you can give me a bit more you have a deal." It was around that point that I realized 1. he might not have my interests at heart and 2. he may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Probably a combination of both lol, sounds like he's getting a flat fee regardless of what you're being paid.
can you share the recruiter's name/agency so we can all avoid?
Yes, please do... there are far too many unscrupulous and untrustworthy headhunters our there
industry needs a ratemyprofessors situation - no reason we should be held captive by these morons
