HeadHunters - Trying to make a move from MM firm to a BB
I'm trying to make a move from a Middle Market Firm to a BB or some recognized boutique where I will actually be doing some M& A work. I was recommended by someone to go through some of the recognized head hunters. Any thoughts/ideas/comments on that?
sure...go for it

who are these "recognized" headhunters you speak of? i am kind of in the same boat.
Contacts will be 100% more effective than headhunters, with less BS. First of all, most headhunters that deal with lateral ibanking analyst positions are probably not the best recruiters in the first place (the real money is in buyside recruitment and upper level recruitment). Second of all, they work in volume - they stuff the pipe full of candidates until one fits, and do the absolute minimum amount of work for each candidate (when you're only getting paid a small amount per candidate, why kill yourself? Just take everyone and hope something sticks).
Trust me, you'll do better if you reach out to contacts.
