Hedge Fund or Asset Management
I am sophomore trying to position myself for IB for junior year. It looks as if I have 2 options for this summer - work in an official internship program at a large pretty well-known AM firm or work in an unofficial internship program at a hedge fund. With the AM gig, there's a chance that I'm not even put on the investment team and could just be put on their sales or client services team. For the hedge fund gig, it's a very small unknown fund that does not have any official internship program. What do you guys think will better position myself for the following summer - the AM internship or the hedge fund internship?
Assuming money is in no way a factor, which one do you think will give you the best learning experience to better yourself for IB recruiting? Go with the one where you're most likely to develop the necessary skills that you can sell yourself on in your eventual interviews.
