Hello, new to WSO!

Hello WSO,

I am an early 30's (late bloomer) student currently studying Economics and Finance (formerly Computer Science) major at a non-target (California State University San Marcos). One of my friends told me about WSO, how it helped boost his career, more importantly, access to information regarding finance.

A little about me - I grew up in a small household, lived in apartments the majority of my life thus far, and recently have been able to attend school. I originally chose Computer Science because it is the "hot" topic everyone is getting into, and I have had some background in programming working as a technician for a few technology-based corporations here in Southern California. I was unhappy at work, and found myself looking at investments, or rental properties for sale, market news, etc. I decided to make the switch to also fill my curiosity needs.

I spent a great deal (8+ years) at my previous apartment community helping the owners manage their budget. Everything from collection of rent, coordinating with the contractors, to showing prospective tenants properties and drawing up leasing agreements. Essentially, I was a part-time Leasing Agent/Property Manager (on-call as well), so the perks that were given were pretty nice.

I am happy to join and be part of WSO's Community!
