HELP! 10-week summer internship clashes with exam time

Hi guys,

First of all I am aware that you shouldn´t ask for holiday during a 10-week internship but my internship starts during my exam time at University. How many days off do you usually have during a 10 week summer internship? I will probably need 5 days off for exams. (but over a 2-3 week period, so not 5 days straight). Otherwise I can´t accept the offer. Any advice? Anyone with a similar situation in the past? Is this possible?

Thanks.

Anyone?

thanks for the responses, unfortunately it isn´t possible to postpone the exams. So if I don´t take them I fail automatically. It really sucks...

Don't postpone, take them early.

When I was graduating from UG, I had a job offer that i ultimately accepted but they needed me to start May 1. All of my professors except 1 allowed me to sit early (exam period was like the 5-9 or something like that). The one who didn't allowed me to sit for the final at an Exam Testing site close to where I moved.

Tell your internship and try to sit EARLY (not postpone)

Take them early. If that does't work, see if you can take them remotely, perhaps with a local alumnus serving as a proctor.

To answer your question "how much vacation time do interns get." The answer is expect none and be surprised with what you get. If your bank has a Saturday off policy, great, those also apply to interns, assuming you aren't on live deals. In addition to that, you may get July 4 off (if you are in the US) but will need to check with your teams. It's not a viable strategy to think you can take exams in your off time as an intern since it's so unpredictable.
