Hi guys got 2 BB offers, but prefering another, how to handle it?

Hey guys,

I got 2 BB offers for IBD, but I have another BB interview lined up in like 2 Weeks (the offer of the other 2 already expired there). Should I just say fuck it and go for a "lower tier" BB?

The problem is also that I said that no matter what I would accept their offers ... (I know, not the most intelligent move).

How is PE recruiting from BB's like Citi/CS/Merill ? Is it much worse than at JP/GS/MS ?

Common mistake is overemphasizing the bank. Yes, GS is the best if you get into one of their IBD coverage groups. But after that, way more important to be in the right group (read: M&A or sponsors).

I'd take middle market M&A over JPM or MS coverage.

So focus on where you can get into the right group.

That's why I said GS IBD coverage. Not M&A.

And yes I would rather work in the M&A group of smaller bank than generic coverage group at larger bank. You get a better experience. Although some handle the M&A in-house it's hit or miss, and I'd rather not take the chance of landing in a coverage group where that's not the case.
