Go to the 10q/10k and drop in the share count then use the daily price during each quarter and that's about as good as you can get.
As long as there's no big equity raise or stock split/reverse split then tracking share price makes more sense to see how value has changed over time.
Capital IQ - Go to Capitalization within the Financials / Valuation section. You can toggle the frequency (annual vs. quarterly) and alter how far back you want to go.
