How are there hundreds of applicants for LinkedIn job postings and who are these people

Seriously, have you seen the numbers for some of these jobs posted on LinkedIn? There are sometimes 1,000+ applications in a week. They're not even always highly sought after positions either. No way these are all legit applicants. I've even seen programs written that mass apply to jobs that fall within certain set parameters.

Obviously i'm generalizing, but does anyone ever get interviews from just applying through these? There has to be a way to game them and skew the results to favor your application.

I got a couple interviews from this, though it was pre 'rona a couple years ago, and I don't remember there being that many people. The opposite also happened to me where someone recommended me for a position, I looked at the LinkedIn posting after the interview was scheduled and it said 600+ people had applied lol. Didn't get it in the end but that was insane in and of itself.

One thing to remember is that LinkedIn counts every person that simply clicks through the link to the company application. Even if they don’t actually complete (or even fill out) the application on the companies site, as long as they click through the link, they are counted. I’m sure this inflates the number substantially.

What a clown system. LI has been shit since Microsoft's acquisition.

Not to sidetrack this thread, but is there a way to create groups on LI without notifying your contacts? Would be really use to create custom groups by industry, area, or literally any other customized category you'd want to track.

Getting rid of the "Sales Navigotor" tool on Gmail/Chrome Extension in March was a real kick in the pants..
