How do i become a corporate raider straight out of undergrad

Context: I'm a 2nd year undergrad student at a global hypertarget (Oxbridge/LSE/Imperial/UCL/WHYD). Since some members of my family who have been in the industry (mostly PE, AM, M&A) are telling me that I'd tarnish the family name if I went into a job of diminishing prestige such as IBD or non-MF PE, I wanted to set my sights higher.

My uncle worked with the famous corporate raiders in the 80s and 90s and I wanted to follow into the footsteps of the likes of Icahn, Goldsmith or Perelman, how do I become a corporate raider as soon as I graduate? The family office has ~2.3bil USD across all the usual asset classes, and my portion of it that I can access is in the ballpark of 80-110MM, with another 120-130MM when I turn 35. Is that enough capital to start raiding in the lower or even middle market territory? I can likely access non prop (LP) capital from a well developed rolodex of family and family friends which can likely lead to capital commitments in the ballpark of ~200-260MM.

I have to give you props for continuing your sometimes creative shitposting with such consistency. Keep it up.

First of all: IBD is still very much prestigous. Your family is just being stuck up and pretentious. You can probably land something like GS MSI or MS Tech with your connections and that's about as prestigous as it gets.

Secondly, Icahn and "corporate raiding" are of days long gone. The current hype thing is private debt. Get into that field if you can.

Overall you're worrying about it too much. You're in a lucky position OP. Many of us would kill to have been born in the "right" family. Reflect on your privilege and consider giving back to the lesser fortunate in your immediate community, or to donating to related causes. Best of luck for the future, and have fun in undergrad while you can.
