How to become acquisitions/development expert?

I recently started in an acquisitions role at my family's multi-family development company in the NYC area. Before this, I was at CBRE in office leasing, so not totally related. I'm about 3 years into my commercial real estate career. I feel like I may have come into my current role too early, but it doesn't matter now since I'm here and I have to make it work. So basically I need to learn acquisitions and development while working at a small family company. Besides the obvious of learning from the guys here (all like 30 years older than me), what advice do people have for learning as quickly as possible so I can add value. School? Reading? Thanks!

Thanks! Yes, ULI has great resources. Maybe it's as simple as just learning along the way here. Because I haven't worked at any other development companies I'm worried that I won't know about key practices that the dinosaur guys at my company are maybe not doing. That said, I know that development is somewhat a "fly by the seat of the pants" thing anyway.
