How to deal with disastrous associates???

2nd year analyst, have overall liked my group (M&A BB) and am looking to continue vs depart to the buyside. However, a couple of the new associates from the summer are so over controlling I can’t really do my job. I’ve tried to make suggestions as to what the MD’s looking for, but they don’t listen and insist on doing it their way which ends with all the work needing to be redone constantly once the MD reviews. Additionally I try and divide the work so at least half is done right but even after verbally agreeing one associate will consistently mess with the work I’m supposed to be doing. The result is we’re duplicating efforts and then it all gets redone anyway. I’m losing patience fast, this has been going on since the summer and is not getting better. If anything they’re getting worse but no one seems to notice because they’re “good guys” I think it’s hurting the credibility of my work being staffed with these associates where the work is not up to my standards and the models are consistently just wrong. I wouldn’t have a problem with them doing all the work if it was right but since it’s generally wrong it ends up reflecting badly on me too. But since they have the MBA I have to suck it up and do what they say? Any advice would be great.... commiseration welcomed too

I know somebody who had the same issue. Unfortunately all you can do in this case is try to get staffed as much as possible with other people. Otherwise nothing you can do if VPs / Directors / MDs like these guys - they will protect them. It's worse if one of them hired one or both of these guys - he will be even more invested to keep him/them. Sit tight, under no circumstance try to argue or undermine them until you become associate or leave to buy-side. If it's the latter, you can get your revenge on one of the deals.
